Kateryna Volochniuk is a researcher and art historian from Kyiv who specialized in the history of photography and memory studies. Before the full-scale invasion, her last work concentrated on an archive digitalization project about Kyiv citizens of the 1930s. Now her research is based on the personal photo archive of her grandfather, modes of documentary in the Soviet photo-journalism, and analysis of cultural production within industrial archaeology. Specifically, she is developing the genre of photo accusations, which is still unarticulated in the art-history discourse of Ukraine, despite being an essential tool for institutional disciplinary use.
