Emily Rose Apter is a Brooklyn-based programmer, filmmaker, and organizer whose work explores overlapping spheres of cultural production, (counter)archives, labor, and collective struggle. She works in public programming for film and cultural heritage organizations, most recently as Director of Programming at Maysles Documentary Center in Harlem. Currently, Emily oversees programming and archiving for Solidarity Media Network, an grassroots abolitionist project supporting formerly incarcerated artists, and is co-teaching "Necrophilanthropy: Nonprofit Killers, Cultural Work, and the Carceral State" at the School of Making and Thinking this summer.

Emily has programmed at cinemas, museums, galleries, and schools around the country including: Maysles Cinema, Spectacle Theater, Peephole Cinema, Museum of the City of NY, City College, Pratt University, Harlem Stage, the Film-Makers' Cooperative, among others. She has written for Millennium Film Journal, Analog Cookbook, Cinémovil, Chute Film Coop, and Screen Slate. Her zines are available through Maysles Documentary Center and Printed Matter, and her film, Bliss.jpg, through DA Films.
