Danielle Willems is a designer, professor, and currently is a partner in maeta design llc. Her work was recently published in the book titled “57 Pavilions”, which showcases design research and built architectural work. Her design practice has recently completed a series of projects in Europe, that question the intersections between algorithmic tools and digital fabrication techniques. She has exhibited in the 2018 Venice Biennale, with an installation titled “Digital Deposition”, which explored functioning blockchain technology embedded within innovative robotically fabricated material composites. She holds a Masters of Science in Advanced Architecture Design from Columbia University and Bachelors in Architecture from The Southern California Institute of Architecture. She has been a faculty, lecturer and critic at several Universities and Institutes such as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Cooper Union, Columbia University and is currently a lecturer at University of Pennsylvania PennDesign and Pratt Institute in the Architecture Department. Her work progressively merges several disciplines together such as VR game design, fashion design, robotics and film into her architectural design methodologies.
Ezio Blasetti, registered architect in Europe (TEE-TCG), holds a masters of science in advanced architectural design from Columbia University after having previously studied in Athens and Paris. His academic and professional research focuses on the application of advanced technologies in all phases of architectural design, from the initial composition to the digital and robotic fabrication. He is a founding partner at Maeta Design, an architectural design and research firm based in Brooklyn NY, Philadelphia PA and Athens Greece. In 2009 he co-founded ahylo, an architectural design and construction practice as well as “apomechanes”, an annual intensive design lab on algorithmic processes and fabrication. Founder of algorithmicdesign.net, Ezio’s recent collaborations include new territories, biothing, acconci studio, a|Um studio and serge studio. He has taught generative design studios and seminars by means of computational geometry and digital fabrication at PennDesign, Yale School of Architecture, Pratt Institute, Columbia University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Sciarc, Cooper Union, the Architectural Association, Michigan University, University of Technology Sydney and the Bartlett. In 2004 he co-founded otn studio, a young design-build practice and completed several projects in Greece. His work has been exhibited and published internationally including the Pompidou Center, the Venice and Chicago Biennale and the National Contemporary Arts Museum of Greece.
