Rômulo Moraes is a Brazilian writer, sound artist, and ethnographer. PhD candidate in Ethnomusicology at CUNY Graduate Center with a Fulbright/CAPES Scholarship, he holds a Masters in Culture and Communication from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Author of "A fauna e a espuma" (2023) and "Casulos" (2019), he has published essays and reviews on e-flux, The Wire, The Brooklyn Rail, Aquarium Drunkard, and others, and lectures at Bard College, Brooklyn College, Queens College, and The New Centre for Research & Practice. Currently, he's interested in phenomenologies of imagination, the entwinement of pop and experimental, the cosmopoetics of crate digging, and the concept of vibe as an aesthetic category.
