Acid Ecosophy for a Kaleidoscopic Machinic Phylum
Instructor: Thomas Mical Date & Time: August 24, 31, September 7, 14. 09:00-11:30 ET

DESCRIPTION: This seminar will intertwine and proliferate certain aspects of unnatural nature, cinematic modes of living, and the wider spatial arts so as to spore new speculative modes of thinking the bio-mechanical lifestyles. From Bosch to bio-art, we will track and scan components of a dynamic ecosophy (as lucid vision and sense) following form with the current interest in Felix Guattari’s ecosophical aesthetics originating in his three ecologies: mental, social, environmental. This class takes on a hybrid thinking process drawing from aspects of philosophy intertwined with the spatial arts. We will learn some ways to operate concepts artistically to speculate on possible alternative collectives within the socius of the city. We shall draw down reality-shifting subjectivity from lurid theory, and we will pivot to some examples of the urban situated-ness of an emerging world of hybrid biology and mechanical arts. The Seminar refines sensitivity to the mode of living that is adventuring in a stratum of wonder, between soft machines and hard machines, as an available reality. We will show this reality is but a testbed for further experiments and mutations, a future bio-mechanical carnival of infinite nomadic circuits and intensities.
